When we were homeschooling, our children loved board games, question-and-answer games, and games involving money. DISCOVER AMERICA would have been a big hit with them. This game, for two or more players ages nine to 93, helps children learn state capitals.
Game strategy also requires players to answer fun and informative questions relating to American history, geography, and culture.
Sample questions:
What was Amelia Earhart famous for?
Which two presidents died within hours of each other?
Who wrote and published Poor Richard's Almanac?
Who invented the telegraph?
With more than 1,200 questions, there's enough challenging material for a yearlong American history course - all in a fun game format. Players travel around the board from state to state, reliving great explorations and other history-making events. I played a sample round with my husband, and we were both surprised at how entertaining the game is.
